Bioconnex announces the Capital Region Cancer Research New Frontiers Symposium: Cancer Immuno- and Related-Therapies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALBANY, NEW YORK – The Capital Region Cancer Research group (CRCR) will sponsor a half-day symposium as part of its CRCR New Frontiers Series, entitled “New strategies and technologies in cancer research.” The event will be held on Nov. 1 at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Gozzo Student Center (Rite Aid Lounge) from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. This is the sixth such cancer symposium in this series, previously held in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. The symposium is intended to bring together investigators in New York’s Capital Region who work on various aspects of cancer.

The symposium will feature seminars by local cancer researchers including basic research scientists, clinical research scientists, student and post-doctoral trainees, and industry scientists. A poster session will also be held with prizes awarded and top abstracts selected for oral presentation.

“The development of new and powerful technologies in the cancer research field has led to unprecedented advances in our understanding of cancer, in turn providing new methods of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. These technologies include many that will be presented as part of this symposium including cancer immunotherapy, personalized patient treatment, novel anti-cancer chemical analogs, powerful single cell and other next generation sequencing, cancer stem cells, and cutting edge imaging. These and other new strategies and technologies promise to play a major role in contributing to the ultimate goal of the CRCR and our attending community organizations – the cure of cancer,” said Dana R. Crawford, Ph.D., Associate Professor at Albany Medical College and Chair of the CRCR.

CRCR is an inter-institutional organization created to promote research interactions among Albany-area researchers toward contributing to the cure of cancer. CRCR member organizations include Wadsworth Center, SUNY-Albany, General Electric (GE), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Taconic Biosciences, Inc., the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), the Stratton VA Medical Center, and Albany Medical Center (AMC).

“The work of Capital Region Cancer Research Center is vitally important, and the New Frontiers Symposium is certain to feature a wealth of information on new cancer research. Bioconnex and our members are proud to support the CRCRC and this event as well as help connect members of the biotechnology industry working on this important research,” said CEG President and CEO Andrew Kennedy.

Registration is now open and more information on the event can be found at www.ceg.org/bioconnex
