The What’s So Cool About ManufacturingTM community awareness program led by the Center for Economic Growth is a real-world (STEM) learning experience for middle school students. The program is executed as a video competition where 7th/8th grade teams are paired with a unique manufacturer in the Capital Region. Through collaboration and media training, each team creates a video that highlights careers and technology at their partnered manufacturer – and why manufacturing is COOL.
The awards event provides a platform to celebrate and showcase the efforts of students who are actively learning about manufacturing careers, potentially changing perceptions about the industry by highlighting the modern, high-tech aspects of manufacturing, and encouraging more students to consider careers in the field; all while providing a valuable networking opportunity with local manufacturers and educators.
