Join NY Loves Nanotech as we present the 3rd Excelsior Award to Aubrey (Bill) Tobey, President of Act International; Former Vice President GCA Corporation
About:
The Excelsior Award is presented to individuals who have made a tremendous impact on the global semiconductor industry and who are graduates of New York educational institutions.
While at GCA, Bill led the team that developed the wafer stepper, a pioneering technology in wafer processing that led to modern lithography tools. For this achievement, Bill was awarded the 2006 Bob Graham Award. Prior to serving in various technology development functions at GCA, Bill started his technology career as a professor at the University of Connecticut, where he’d earlier received his Master’s in Thermodynamics. He’s a graduate of Tufts University, where the US Navy transferred him after studies at RPI. Bill is a decorated veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Europe in World War II. He grew up in Albany and is a graduate of Albany Public High Schools.
The Excelsior Award was established as an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of the many impressive industry leaders who have come out of New York’s institutions of learning. Prior recipients include: Rick Hill, CEO of Novellus Corporation and Doug Grose, CEO of GlobalFoundries.
