Saratoga Partnership, Global Semiconductor Alliance and CEG to Present Inaugural GSA Silicon Summit – East in Saratoga Springs

October 9 event will promote collaboration to advance semiconductor technology and business, and provide unique insight to inform the regional ecosystem on growth opportunities

Saratoga Springs, NY and San Jose, CA – The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership (Saratoga Partnership), the county’s designated economic development agency, the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), a leading voice for the worldwide semiconductor industry, and the Center for Economic Growth (CEG), a regional economic and business development organization, today announced plans to host the inaugural GSA Silicon Summit – East. The event will bring leading executives and technologists to Saratoga Springs, NY to discuss extending semiconductor technology, emerging market trends, and opportunities for collaboration and business growth.

More than 250 attendees are expected at the first-ever conference, to be held on Tuesday, October 9 at the Saratoga Springs City Center. The event is a direct result of the strategic alliance established last year by the Saratoga Partnership and GSA, which represents more than 400 member companies in 32 countries that combine for over 75 percent of revenue in the $400 billion semiconductor industry.

With a theme of “Harnessing Emerging Semiconductor Market Opportunities,” the Silicon Summit – East is designed to promote partnerships that are critical to advancing both semiconductor technology and business. Through a day long agenda packed with insightful presentations, thoughtful panel discussions and meaningful interactions, the event aims to drive efficiencies that will strengthen the industry, while also informing the regional ecosystem on growth opportunities.

“We are delighted to partner with the Global Semiconductor Alliance and Center for Economic Growth on an event that places Saratoga County on center stage in the worldwide semiconductor industry,” said Marty Vanags, President of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership. “The Silicon Summit – East will provide a venue to create connections, expand networks and build relationships that support a sustainable approach to economic development and generate long-term prosperity.”

“It is a pleasure to build on our alliance with the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership to bring the GSA Silicon Summit – East to Saratoga Springs,” said Jodi Shelton, President and Co-founder of GSA. “We look forward to discussing the vital role of semiconductor and supply chain companies in the region in powering innovation to support the needs of industry and drive business performance and growth.”

For more than 30 years, the Center for Economic Growth has made a concentrated effort to develop the Capital Region as a hub for the global semiconductor industry. Through focused investments that advance next generation high technology research and commercialization activities at SUNY Polytechnic Institute and RPI, as well as targeted economic development projects to attract leading companies, the region is on the industry’s map. The local presence of  industry giants such as GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Applied Materials, Tokyo Electron, ASML and Lam Research is a testament to that fact,” said Andrew Kennedy, President and CEO of CEG. “By partnering with GSA and  the Saratoga Partnership, we can showcase what the Capital Region can provide to worldwide industry leaders and highlight why New York makes sense for their next investment.”

The strategic alliance between the Saratoga Partnership and GSA establishes a hub for semiconductor outreach, advocacy and education in the Northeast. It enables the Saratoga Partnership to promote Saratoga County as a destination for semiconductor and advanced manufacturing businesses, and connects companies throughout the ecosystem with the valuable services provided by GSA.

The Saratoga Partnership is working closely with the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau, Saratoga Springs City Center, and Saratoga Hilton to help coordinate the event. Further information, including the agenda and keynote speakers, as well as registration and sponsorship opportunities, will be provided in the coming months.
