MEDIA ADVISORY: Community Colleges Announce Partnership to Address Workforce Shortage
Center for Economic Growth Identified Shortage from State and Regional Labor Data & Local Colleges are Taking Action
(TROY, N.Y.) –Recent State and Regional Labor data analyzed by the Center for Economic Growth has indicated that a low unemployment rate, combined with a continued increase in job creation, has resulted in a shortage of qualified workers trained to fill emerging jobs. Referred to as a “ skills gap ,” Columbia-Greene Community College, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, SUNY Adirondack, and SUNY Schenectady are working together to address this issue and the workforce demand throughout the Capital Region.
WHAT: Presidents of five SUNY community colleges will announce a new partnership and plans to address the skills gap in the region. More details on the partnership and research will be shared at the event.
