High-Speed Internet Adoption in Saratoga County Is 2nd Highest in NYS

Saratoga County has the state’s second highest adoption rate for wired Internet access services, according to a Center for Economic Growth (CEG) analysis of new U.S. Census Bureau experimental data.

In 2022, 83.9 percent of households in Saratoga County had subscriptions to Internet access technology, such as cable or fiber optic. That was the second highest wired Internet access services adoption rate in New York, trailing only Putnam County at 85.2 percent. In fact, five of the Capital Region’s eight counties ranked among the state’s top 25 for their percentage of households with subscriptions to wired Internet access technology.

The other top 25 counties in the Capital Region included:

  • 7th Rensselaer County: 81.0 percent
  • 14th Albany County: 79.8 percent
  • 16th Schenectady County 79.4 percent
  • 25th Warren County: 77.1 percent

Despite its high ranking in New York, Saratoga County’s wired Internet access services adoption rate was the 24th highest in the Northeast and the 99th highest among more than 3,100 U.S. counties. The highest-ranking U.S. county (excluding cities) for subscriptions to Internet access technology was Douglas County, Colorado at 90.4 percent, and the highest-ranking Northeast county was Rockingham County, New Hampshire at 87.5 percent.

The Census Bureau developed these 2022 Local Estimates of Internet Adoption (LEIA) for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration “to provide timely and accurate estimates of high-speed internet adoption across the country.”
