Eternal ME to Preview Digital Asset Management Software at Startup Tech Valley

A Troy serial entrepreneur whose last venture saw him fight misinformation is now leveraging technology to save digital assets after death.

At the next Startup Tech Valley (SUTV) event at Brown’s Revolution Hall in Troy on Sept. 18, the startup Eternal ME will preview its new digital asset management software program for estate and financial planners. Eternal ME, which was founded in September 2023 by Richard Zack, will also announce at the SUTV pitch sessions a partnership with a Chicago firm.

Eternal ME counters the problem that arises when someone dies without clear, legally binding management plan for his or her digital assets, such as cryptocurrency, emails, social profiles, web domains, and images. Without an inventory of these digital assets or a means for appointed individuals to access them, money and memories can be lost forever. At SUTV, Eternal ME will debut its Eternal Pro software product that corrals digital assets and passwords into secure “vaults” and provides options for memorial websites that are maintained in perpetuity as well as digital executor services.

“We’re breaking new ground. I don’t think anyone has veered away from digital asset estate planning. It’s just no one else has done it,” said Zack, who lives in Troy and Westchester County.

Between 2017 and 2021, Zack operated the anti-misinformation Troy startup Our.News that partnered with organizations such as the Internet Archive, RPI, Dartmouth University, the International Fact-Checking Network, and Facebook. In 1994, at the age of 14, Zack created Ohio’s first Internet service provider. He later founded Pantek, a global leader in Linux and Open Source software. Zack recognized the need for digital estate and legacy services when in the process for estate planning with his wife.

Eternal ME will be a virtual company, but Zack plans to establish its presence in the Hudson Valley and Capital Region. Two other startups that will make pitches at the next SUTV event on Sept. 17 are the anti-spam solutions firm Ten Talents and Ethermed, and a prior authorization solutions provider for the healthcare industry.

Register for the Sept. 18 SUTV at Brown’s Revolution Hall. Networking starts at 5:30 p.m. and pitch sessions run from 6-7 p.m. Register here.
