CEG’s Offshore Wind Summit Was a Major Success

The Center for Economic Growth’s Capital Region Offshore Wind Summit on April 13 blew away expectations, with more than 225 attendees from industry, manufacturers, the community and workforce.  The event, sponsored by Couch White, further elevated the Capital Region’s status as an emerging major East Coast manufacturing hub for the international OSW industry. An impressive lineup of 16 speakers included representatives from the Embassy of Denmark, NYSERDA, Equinor US, Ørsted/Eversource, Marmen, Welcon, the Port of Albany, Port of Coeymans and more.

The impacts of this manufacturing facility [at the Port of Albany] really can’t be overstated. It will support offshore wind development along the East Coast; it responds to New York’s commitment to clean energy; it positions the region to play a key role in the growing offshore wind industry; and perhaps more importantly it will introduce long-term, sustainable jobs. So again, we view this facility as a key element to Equinor’s long-term goal to establish a strong manufacturing base, to support this critical renewable energy business.
