Amazon hiring 100 positions at Granville distribution center

“Amazon is looking to fill 100 positions at its Granville distribution center in preparation for the holiday season.

Seasonal employees are eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus, with part-time positions starting at $19.50 to $20 an hour. After the holidays, seasonal positions can potentially transition to full-time employment. For employees who stay with the company, an average pay increase of 15% is expected in the first three years.”

Adirondack Park Agency approves Barton Mines expansion

“A sixth-generation, family-owned garnet mining operation in Johnsburg and Indian Lake received Adirondack Park Agency approval for its expansion plan on Thursday. The hard rock mine would be able to operate for another 66 years.

The agency board voted 8-0 for the Barton Mines permit that has been in the works for three years.”

Metroplex approves funding for miSci renovations survey

“A comprehensive survey to identify potential upgrades at the Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) is currently underway, with Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority approving a $77,930 contract on Wednesday with the C2 Design Group of Glenville to analyze the museum campus.

The survey will prioritize the infrastructure work needed for the museum. Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, D-Rotterdam, secured $10 million in state funding for repairs in the state budget.”

Improvements At Gore And Whiteface Ski Areas Guarantee A Better Winter Experience

“Olympic Regional Development Authority has invested $17 million on capital upgrades at Gore and Whiteface mountains for the upcoming ski season.

Projects include replacing antiquated lifts, updating and maintaining existing lifts, improving snowmaking and electrical infrastructure, and modernizing buildings and lodges.
