UAlbany partnering with UR to develop RNA-based medical treatment

“The University at Albany and the University of Rochester are partnering on a new center to develop RNA-based medical treatments.

The Center of Excellence in RNA Research and Therapeutics will perform research and train students to work in biotechnology.”

Croatian food tech company targets former Amsterdam mill

“Boogie Lab USA has selected Amsterdam for its first manufacturing site in the country, targeting the former Sonoco Products Company paper mill on Forest Avenue for conversion into a production facility, restaurant, retail space and brewpub.

On Friday, Mayor Michael Cinquanti announced the Croatian food tech company and craft bakery’s intent to bring a state-of-the-art production plant to the city as part of a $22 million project remediating and rehabbing the former paper mill site at 58-62 Forest Ave.”

Proposed resort would have a market value of $330 million, planners estimate

“Developers of a proposed mega resort at the former Blackhead Mountain Lodge estimate that, if completed to plan, the property will have a market value of $330 million.

That figure comes from a fiscal impact analysis detailed last week during KARC Planning Consultants’ presentation at the town’s most recent planning board public hearing on the project. KARC represents California-based developers Henry Courtemanche and Donald Chick of RCBG JV Manager LLC who acquired the property from the Maassmann family last year.”

Albany International Airport direct flights to Las Vegas set to return

“One of the most-requested direct flights by flyers at Albany International Airport is coming back later this year.

The airport announced Monday that Southwest Airlines will begin nonstop flights from Albany International to Las Vegas (LAS) starting in August.”

Saratoga County touts airport expansion, improvement project

“With a picturesque sky as the backdrop, construction crews could be seen working on the new terminal at the Saratoga County Airport in Milton Tuesday as state and local officials highlighted the $32.5 million project.

‘Our airport is a tremendous gateway for the entire county and provides business and leisure travelers with their first impression of Saratoga County in many ways,’ said Phil Barrett, chairman of the county Board of Supervisors.”

Aquatic center now focused on Schenectady site instead of Via Port

“The new plan for a regional aquatic center would instead build the facility in downtown Schenectady under a partnership with county government and SUNY Schenectady.

The county Legislature on Tuesday voted to a ratify an agreement that would build the 80,000-square-foot swimming center on 2.4 acres owned by the county and community college off lower State Street, according to a news release.”

The Learning Experience wants to build day care in Halfmoon

“The Learning Experience, a national child care provider, wants to expand to the fast-growing town of Halfmoon in Saratoga County.

The company would occupy a 10,000-square-foot building at 5 Halfmoon Crossing Boulevard across from Home Depot under plans submitted to the town.”
