A little lab at UAlbany is growing a miniature heart
“In a small lab on an upper floor of a building at the University at Albany, students are growing fully-formed human hearts.
The hearts are miniscule — about half as large as the head of a needle. But they hold the power to revolutionize the way new medications are tested.”
Adirondack Studios Celebrates 50 Years Of Innovation And Global Impact

Adirondack Studios (ADKS), founded in 1975 as Adirondack Scenic, has grown from a startup operating in a 6,000-square-foot building in Warrensburg to a company headquartered in a 126,000-square-foot production facility in Argyle, with additional locations across the U.S., Europe-Middle East, and Asia-Pacific”
Ecovative raises $11M to expand MyForest Foods’ vegan bacon
“Green Island-based startup Ecovative has closed another multimillion-dollar raise to keep its spin-off company, MyForest Foods growing.
The company announced Thursday that it raised $11 million to support MyForest Foods, the maker of MyBacon, a vegan bacon product made from the root-like structure of mushrooms. The product is now in 1,200 stores in 45 states as well as Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, British Columbia and Jamaica.”
Former MTA executive tapped to lead CDTA
“The Capital District Transportation Authority Board of Directors voted unanimously Wednesday to appoint former New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority executive Frank Annicaro as its new CEO.
Annicaro was previously the senior vice president of the New York City Transit Department of Buses at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He will begin his new role with CDTA on May 12, according to a CDTA news release.”
