Ducommun AeroStructures considering expansion in Greene County
“Representatives of aerospace systems manufacturer Ducommun AeroStructures recently met with economic development officials from Greene County and the state to talk about possibly expanding the company’s facility in Coxsackie.
Greene County Industrial Development Agency executive director Rene VanSchaack said company officials are evaluating whether to expand the manufacturing plant at 171 Stacy Road by 50,000 square feet.”
ARCC Leadership Adirondack group to provide skilled trades scholarship
“The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Adirondack Class of 2019-2020 has partnered with WSWHE BOCES and the Employment Training for Adults program to provide a scholarship program to help increase the number of skilled trade workers in the region.
Approximately 90% of individuals who are interested in learning a skilled trade through the BOCES ETA program need financial assistance, and many do not qualify for state or federal aid, according to a news release.”
Downtown Albany parking lots sell for $3.3 million in first step toward redevelopment
“A collection of parking lots near the Trailways/Greyhound bus station sold for $3.3 million — a critical step toward the planned redevelopment of property where a convention center was originally proposed in downtown Albany.
Liberty Square Development LLC, an entity created by the Capitalize Albany Corp., closed on the purchase of 12 parcels owned by a trust controlled by three members of the family of David O. Chambers, according to a deed filed in the clerk’s office.”
RPI researcher to receive NASA Early Stage Innovation grant
“ NASA has selected 14 university-led research proposals to study early stage technologies relevant to these topics and more, including a researcher from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The grants will fund ambitious projects to mature technologies for future NASA missions.”
Saratoga retirees start new investment group focused on helping young companies grow
“Saratoga Springs has a new investment firm looking to help startups and young companies grow.
The group — Saratoga Venture Partners LLC — is made up of six retired executives who have worked in everything from health care to oil and gas. They all live in the Saratoga area and met while volunteering with the Saratoga chapter of SCORE, a national organization of business volunteers that counsel people interested in starting their own businesses.”
