Tech Valley’s Globalfoundries hiring at Fab 8
“Globalfoundries, in the heart of New York’s Tech Valley, is hiring for positions in New York and the U.S.
According to its website the semiconductor maker is hiring in all areas including Manufacturing, Operations, Equipment Maintenance, Logistics, Engineering and Finance. Openings are available at a number of facilities, including Global’s Fab 8, approximately 20 miles north of Albany in Saratoga County, NY. Fab 8 is the most advanced semiconductor fab in the world. GF also maintains its headquarters in Santa Clara, California, and an office in Austin, Texas.”
Common Roots Brewery expansion saved
“It looks like a solution has been found for Common Roots Brewing Co.
Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, D-Round Lake, has offered the village a $50,000 grant to build a sidewalk from a public parking lot to the bar.”
Essity moves tissue production from Arizona to upstate New York
“Essity is increasing production at its South Glens Falls, New York, factory this year after transferring a bathroom tissue conversion line 2,400 miles from a plant in northern Arizona.
The move adds up to 12,000 tons of tissue conversion to Essity’s 27-acre manufacturing complex on the Hudson River in northern Saratoga County.”
Fortune 100 company will fill $25 million building in Latham
“A Fortune 100 company that already has a presence in the Albany region will expand into a new, $25 million building in Latham — the latest big investment by an office tenant near Route 9.
Two, 75,000-square-foot connected buildings will be constructed at the Century Hill Plaza office park if the Colonie Planning Board approves the site plan Tuesday night.”
Professional video gaming league starts tournament out of Schenectady co-working space
“This weekend, more than 60 video gamers will come to downtown Schenectady for the first-ever esports tournament in the region.
The tournament is run by Gaming Insomniacs, a new esports studio run by Jide Osipitan.”
Exit 4, port projects lead list of area transport improvements
“A new exit that improves connections between the Albany International Airport and Adirondack Northway is progressing, more than half a century since a connector was first proposed.
The $50 million project, and another $50 million in airport capital improvements, are likely the largest improvements to the Capital Region’s transportation infrastructure in the coming year.”
Chamber announces entrepreneurship boot camp
“The Capital Region Chamber will offer its 12-week Entrepreneurship Boot Camp beginning Feb. 20 at the Chamber’s Albany office. The boot camp meets two nights a week. Sessions feature business experts on topics ranging from accounting and market research to cash flow and social media.
