Frog Alley Brewery in Schenectady invites public to hop in
“The highly anticipated Frog Alley Brewing Co., the Electric City’s newest brewery, opened the doors of its temporary taproom on Sunday afternoon, hoping to attract area professional football fans.
The brewery occupies the majority of the ground floor in the building that most recently housed the Mill Lane Apartments. The building, situated in the area that bore the name “Frog Alley” in the early 1900s, was originally built as a factory and later became Breslaw’s department store.”
Oncology business propels AngioDynamics to $91.5 million second quarter
“Devices used to combat tumors are emerging as the fastest-growing segment of AngioDynamics’ business.
The Latham, New York, medical device maker finished its second quarter with $91.5 million in sales, a 5.5 percent increase compared to last year.”
Columbia County has lowest jobless rate for 6 straight months
“Columbia County’s unemployment rate is the lowest in the state for the sixth straight month, according to the state Department of Labor.
Columbia County’s rate has steadily decreased in 2018, reaching a low of 2.6 percent in November, while Greene County’s rate continues to hover around 3.5 percent.”
Saratoga County adding jobs faster than US
“Saratoga County added jobs faster than any other county in New York state last year.
The county’s growth stacked up nationally, too — its 2.7 percent growth in employment ranked 48th nationally.”
Prosperity Partnership starts mentorship program
“The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership has set up a small business mentorship program called Circles of Seven, also known as C7, that pairs established business owners with proteges.
The Prosperity Partnership has 42 protege openings and an initial team of seven mentors from a variety of companies. Each mentor will meet with six proteges once a month for nine months.”
Transportation firm expands Albany-area depot
“A. Duie Pyle has doubled the capacity of its Albany-area service center.
The Pennsylvania-based supply-chain and transportation company said the Route 9 campus in Schodack was expanded by 17 acres, allowing it to increase from 40 to 84 dock doors. About 20 jobs will be added as a result.”
Area company launches restaurant review mobile app
“One local company is offering diners around the country a new way to taste with the launch of its mobile app.
Taste is an app through which users review restaurants, but what sets it apart from other is its personalized recommendation platform.”
How this manufacturer uses an in-house clinic to keep health care costs down
“Employees at Precision Valve and Automation used the on-site health clinic at the manufacturer’s offices in Colonie more than 1,500 times last year.
That saves the company money because none of those visits are billed, said Kris Dzikas, the human resources director.”
Town of Lake George OK’s new amusement park
“The dinosaurs are coming — this summer.
The Town of Lake George Planning Board has approved plans for the new Lake George Expedition Park, which will add on to the longtime Magic Forest park along Route 9 between Lake George and Queensbury, park officials said this week.
Metroplex development incentives generated $15.4M for governments in 2018
“Projects supported by the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority made $15.37 million worth of payments in lieu of taxes in 2018.
The PILOT agreements are an incentive offered by the development agency to reduce the cost of construction or renovation. Metroplex typically offers a 10-year PILOT agreement, under which the payments increase each year until full property taxes are paid by the recipient.
