NY CREATES to partner with South Korean version of Albany NanoTech
“NY CREATES has signed a joint development agreement with the National Nanofab Center, a South Korean-version of the Albany NanoTech complex.
Officials from NY CREATES, a state-affiliated nonprofit that operates Albany NanoTech, traveled to South Korea last month to meet with industry leaders there and also to attend a 20th-anniversary celebration of the National Nanofab Center.”
HVCC opens Aviation Maintenance Technician School at Albany airport
“There’s nothing cooler than repairing helicopters, said Torre Tamez.
What’s also cool: She’ll be able to get her aviation mechanic certification near home, at the Albany International Airport.
Hudson Valley Community College is starting the 12-month certification program this fall, in a hangar at the airport that has been dubbed HVCC West. Its official name is the Aeronautical Technology Institute.”
GlobalFoundries joins effort to get women into construction jobs
“GlobalFoundries has joined a U.S. Commerce Department program designed to expand the number of women in construction within the semiconductor industry just as the chipmaker is embarking on $12.1 billion in expansion projects at its manufacturing facilities in Malta and Essex Junction, Vt.
Pradheepa Raman, GlobalFoundries’ chief people officer, announced that GlobalFoundries would commit to a set of five principles known as the CHIPS Women in Construction Framework, the idea for which was revealed at a Tuesday White House roundtable event that Raman participated in.”
