Port of Albany awarded $10M to help handle very heavy cargo
“Nearly $10 million in recently awarded state funds will support infrastructure improvements at the Port of Albany, part of an effort to ensure the facility can continue to handle increasingly heavy cargo.
The $9.9 million grant from the state Department of Transportation’s passenger and freight rail assistance program will go toward bolstering a weathered stretch of the facility’s wharf on the Albany side of the Hudson River and replacing rail that is nearly a century old.”
Albany Inno – Albany-based startup readies launch of its ‘dating app for jobs’
“Capital Region startup Hirebird is preparing to debut its flagship feature.
Hirebird is software that uses a dating app format to match job candidates — predominantly students and new graduates — with companies seeking employees. It’s powered by an artificial intelligence program that can compare resumes and job descriptions and generate a compatibility score.”
$6 billion for Micron bolsters New York’s semiconductor ambition
“The federal government is expected to grant semiconductor manufacturer Micron Technology $6.1 billion to help launch its Syracuse factory — one of the largest federal grants in chips to date.
The Boise, Idaho-based Micron (Nasdaq: MU) has a preliminary agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce under the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act for the multibillion-dollar grant. The funding will go toward Micron’s Central New York project as well as the company’s existing fabs in Idaho.”
Latham solar developer relocates following $15M investment
“Latham-based solar developer U.S. Light Energy is moving to a larger office space not long after taking on a sizable outside investment.
The company says it is now subleasing a 15,000-square-foot portion of Plug Power’s 51,438-square-foot space at 8 British American Blvd. in Latham.”
