Albany Nanotech’s Nanofab Reflection building gets construction go-ahead
“The Albany Nanotech Complex is ready to move forward with its newest building.
The final steps for NanoFab Reflection were approved by the NY CREATES Board Thursday. That includes the final budget, which now totals over $495 million, and notices to proceed with construction.”
CDTA, HVCC working on ‘model’ for workforce development
“The greater Albany metro area’s largest transit operator and largest community college want more people in the labor market.
It’s not only a mutual interest for Capital District Transportation Authority and Hudson Valley Community College. It’s also the basis behind a new partnership announced Tuesday in Albany.”
Active Solar Development to build HQ in Malta
“A solar development company had to shrink the size of the headquarters it will build in Malta because of higher-than-expected construction costs but the total payroll at the business is growing faster than anticipated.
Active Solar Development will construct a 12,605-square-foot building at 2687 Route 9 instead of a roughly 20,000-square-foot building, according to documents filed with the Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency.”
The Troy Book Makers’ Jessika Hazelton on the future of self-publishing
“Jessika Hazelton remembers having an interest in how books are made from a young age.
‘I’m a huge ‘Alice in Wonderland’ fan. I have a really old copy that was just kicking around my house, and I think it’s the first book I remember where you could open it up and you could look in that little hole between the spine and the hardcover and be like, what’s in there?’ she said. ‘Now I know.’”
Equal Vision Records and MerchNow move to new HQ in Albany, plan to grow
“Back in the days when he was a student at the University at Albany and was organizing shows for punk rock bands on Friday nights at local VFW halls, Steve Reddy had to be resourceful.
‘I could figure out how to pack a five-piece band’s equipment, all their merchandise and all their luggage, and eight people into a small van,’ Reddy said.”
