Schenectady County’s budding wind power industry brings in businesses
“GE/Vernova’s plans to build new wind turbines in Schenectady is having a multiplier effect.
South Carolina-based Energy Hardware plans to open a 44,000-square foot facility in the Glenville Business & Technology Park to supply parts for GE/Vernova’s wind operation.”
Deal finalized to build hockey arena in Schenectady
“Officials say a deal has been finalized to build a $50 million arena next to Rivers Casino & Resort that will serve as home ice for Union College’s hockey teams.
The $50 million project will be built with $10 million from the state, $5 million from Schenectady County, $2.5 million from the city of Schenectady and $1 million from retired Price Chopper CEO Neil Golub.”
GE Vernova plans carbon capture facility in Niskayuna
“General Electric’s energy division is seeking to build a 27,690-square-foot structure at the company’s Global Research Center off Balltown Road in Niskayuna to develop and demonstrate emerging technology that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
GE Vernova, which is set to become a stand-alone company in April, is seeking approvals from municipal land-use boards related to the proposed addition to the company’s preexistent research and learning center at 2690 Balltown Road.”
