Albany Inno – Schenectady startup: Product’s role in ‘Ferrari’ movie could accelerate growth

“Jason Kirshon had three days to hand deliver his company’s helmets to the Milan movie set of “Ferrari,” the new Michael Mann film that tells the story of sports car icon Enzo Ferrari.

Kirshon is the founder of Schenectady-based Kirsh Helmets, which designs a motorcycle helmet with silicone safety technology. The props team working on “Ferrari” reached out to Kirsh Helmets because it could provide the vintage-style low profile helmet needed for a race car movie set in the 1950s while also offering head protection, so Kirshon flew overnight and worked with the props team to make the helmets look vintage.”

Art Omi plans $60M ‘Pavilions’ project in Chatham

“Art Omi, the nonprofit arts center in Ghent, is developing a second Columbia County destination.

The $60 million project, Art Omi Pavilions, will feature at least a dozen exhibition buildings linked by outdoor pathways on a 190-acre hillside property off Route 66 in Chatham. A number of prominent artists and architects are already involved in the project.”

Prattsville seeks restoration money for Pratt Rock Park

“The waiting within the waiting has begun for the restoration of Pratt Rock Park in Prattsville where government leaders are seeking more money for the integral project.

Town council members, at a recent meeting, agreed to apply for a $50,000 low interest bridge loan from The Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) to help facilitate the work. If received, the CWC dollars would allow the community to use a $100,000 matching funds grant previously promised by Senator Michelle Hinchey through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.”
