“New York state is joining chip companies to invest $10 billion in a semiconductor research facility at the University at Albany that is set to include some of the most advanced chip-making equipment in the world.”
Regional meat processors get state grants to boost capacity
“Six Capital Region and Hudson Valley slaughterhouses and other meat processors received a combined $625,000 for much-needed capacity expansion as part of a grants program from the state Department of Agriculture and Markets and the Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corp. that awarded a total of $4.25 million to more than two dozen business across the state.
Severe disruption related to the coronavirus pandemic is still affecting the meat-processing industry, with businesses reporting being booked a year or more in advance to process beef, pork, sheep and other animals for the farmers who raise them.”

Rensselaer County IDA approves tax breaks for MetLife data center
“Insurer MetLife is planning to spend $288 million to make upgrades to its data center at the Rensselaer Technology Park.
Although the project will not result in the creation of any new jobs, the Rensselaer County Industrial Development Agency recently approved $22 million in sales tax exemptions to the company for the project.”
