F.W. Webb plans to open location in Schenectady
“F.W. Webb Co. wants to expand its presence in the Albany region, this time by opening a wholesale supply shop in Schenectady for plumbing, heating and HVAC contractors.
The company, based in Bedford, Massachusetts, has a contract to buy an empty 22,000-square-foot building at 588 Broadway.”
Albany Inno – Albany startup lands on Time’s Best Inventions of 2022 list
“MyForest Foods’ MyBacon has been named one of Time’s Best Inventions of 2022.
The company — which grows mycelium, the root-like structures of mushrooms, to create its vegan bacon — just opened 120,000 square feet of new infrastructure in the Capital Region that will allow it to grow 3 million pounds of mycelium and produce 1 million pounds of MyBacon. It also plans to open a new Saratoga Springs processing facility in the spring.”
BelGioioso Cheese expanding at Glenville Business and Technology Park
“BelGioioso Cheese Inc. is expanding again in Schenectady County.
The Green Bay, Wisconsin-based company will build a 4,000-square-foot addition at its main plant in the Glenville Business and Technology Park and renovate an additional 60,000 square feet in what’s known as Building 403.”
Business Growth At Springbrook Hollow Distillery Necessitates New, Larger Facility
“Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery is making its first major expansion since bringing bottles of its flagship vodka to market in 2015.
According to co-owner Matt Colucci, moving all operations to a five-acre parcel on Route 149, adjacent to the current location at 133 Clements Road in Queensbury, will enable the business to increase production, visibility and space for tastings and events.”
Nine Pin Cider Works expands in Albany’s Warehouse District
“Nine Pin Cider Works has expanded into an additional building next door to house the cidery’s new packaging facility.
The 8,000-square-foot building is located just behind 929 Broadway, Nine Pin’s current facility. It was constructed in 1989 as a Bruegger’s Bagels factory and was later acquired by Capital Distilling, which sold it to Nine Pin late last year.”

“Brendan Laing took his senior capstone project at Union College and evolved it into his current startup.
After graduation with his bachelor’s in biomedical engineering in 2019, he immediately began work on what would become IV Wedge, an IV stabilization accessory device.”
UAlbany hiring several faculty members focused on artificial intelligence
“The University at Albany plans to hire 27 new faculty members specializing in artificial intelligence in the coming months, laying the foundation of its new AI academy.
The academy is part of UAlbany’s $200 million Albany Artificial Intelligence Initiative. It will hire AI faculty with experience across disciplines, joining as many as 20 departments.”
