“Turn a corner to a space at the back of Pine Ridge Industries’ production and fulfillment facility, and you’re hit with it.
Not just the sight of racks upon racks full of the bars of soap brought in ever since Pine Ridge — the industrial arm of Schenectady ARC, which provides employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities — took over the packaging, shipping and fulfillment operations for RAD Soap Co., but the distinct smell.”
Galvan unveils $50M development plan
“The Galvan Foundation has unveiled plans for the Depot District to bring housing units, businessfronts and a new park to the city.
The cost of the project is expected to be $50 million, according to the plans.”
Noble Gas — supplier of helium, oxygen and dry ice — opening Saratoga County shop
“David Mahoney and Noble Gas Solutions are investing close to $500,000 to push farther up the Interstate 87 Northway, opening their third helium, argon and oxygen gas distribution site.
Noble Gas is converting a 6,000-square-foot warehouse house at 15 Third St., South Glens Falls, into a store that will supply specialty gas to manufacturers, welders, hospitals, builders and steel fabricators throughout Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties.”
Large solar farms coming to Albany and Schoharie counties
“Two large solar farms will be built in Albany County and Scoharie County, projects that are expected to create more than 260 construction jobs and move the state closer to hitting its long-term clean energy goals.
They are among numerous large- and small-scale solar generation facilities that have been proposed or approved in the Albany region and across New York in recent years.”
Winery and event space planned for former horse farm on Old Post Road in Malta
“Plans are underway for a new winery and event space in Saratoga County.
Halfmoon resident Steve Menneto is proposing the redevelopment of a horse farm on nearly 34 acres in Malta, at 120 Old Post Road, according to documents from the town’s planning board. The site is about 3/4 of a mile from Northway Exit 13.”
ReVivo Medical closes on funding round to enable clinical trial of vertebrae implant
“An Albany startup developing a titanium alloy vertebrae implant has closed on an equity offering of over $550,000.
ReVivo Medical said Tuesday the financing will enable the startup to kick off the early stages of a clinical trial, necessary for overcoming the next hurdle of FDA market clearance for its products.”
Cuomo: Port of Albany among country’s first wind tower manufacturers
“Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced on Wednesday that the Port of Albany would become the country’s first wind tower manufacturing site.
In the third installment of a four-day State of the State address this week, Cuomo’s comments focused on building up New York’s green energy economy in order to combat climate change and jumpstart the economy. Among the projects that Cuomo detailed is a new manufacturing facility at the Port of Albany, which he said would create 500 construction jobs and 300 jobs for highly skilled full-time workers.”
Port of Albany to get hundreds of new jobs from offshore wind project
“The Port of Albany is getting hundreds of new clean energy jobs and the country’s first offshore wind tower manufacturing facility as part of New York’s plan to make itself the center of the country’s green economy.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the project — part of New York’s $26 billion public-private partnership plan to build about 100 renewable projects — on Wednesday during his third virtual State of the State address. The speeches this week have touched on everything from how to reopen restaurants and art centers to what the post-Covid economy will look like.”
