Takeaways from and Tips Relating to Executive Order for Workforce Restrictions and Essential Services

Below are some CEG tips and takeaways from Gov. Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.6  requiring non-essential businesses to reduce their n-person workforce at any work locations by 50 percent (later stated to be reduced to 25 percent) no later than March 20 at 8 p.m.

The workforce restrictions take effect at 8 p.m. Friday so businesses that close before that time should have the weekend to how they will meet the reduced workforce restrictions before reopening on Monday.

Manufacturers should consider sending office staff home and utilizing shift work to meet the workforce restrictions.

Manufacturers should collect letters from suppliers justifying how the goods they produce or services they provide are essential or related to a defense contract.

The executive order describes “essential manufacturing” as “including,” not necessarily being limited to, food processing and pharmaceuticals.”
