5,500 jobs, $730M impact seen in Marcy chip plant

State and local investment in a computer chip facility in Marcy could pay off big, according to a report released today.

If the state were to commit to a $650 million incentive package over six years, the investment would result in 5,514 new jobs, according to the report. The facility would have an economic impact of over $730 million over 10 years.

Steven J. DiMeo, president of Mohawk Valley EDGE, said, "Today’s report confirms what we’ve believed all along ­ the siting of a leading-edge fab at Marcy NanoCenter will result in a transformational impact on the Upstate economy not seen in generations."
